Trav did his first ever triathalon this weekend and I'm gonna brag a bit about him. The past six months, he has made some pretty awesome changes in his lifestyle: eating great and exercising like crazy. He lost 50 lbs in the process and gained incredible confidence and strength. He took up cycling, has always been a good swimmer, and learned to tolerate {like might be too strong of a word} running. He quickly became quite good in all three of those areas {he's even a better runner than me now...gulp} and decided to complete a triathalon.
He skipped the sprint distance and went straight to the olympic, which I was a little surprised at...it's a 1 mile swim, 24 on the bike and 6 mile run- all of which he could easily do, but doing all three consecutively is a totally different story! However, when he puts his mind to something, there's nothing stopping him! He did amazing and even was under his goal of finishing in 3 hours. Not too shabby for his first triathalon, not shabby at all! I loved being able to be there cheering him on and supporting him during such an incredible accomplishment. He had lots of family there also which I know meant the world to him! There's nothing quite like being at a race like that, seeing so many people pursuing such healthy goals, it is inspiring!
{arriving bright and early}
{I knew he was most nervous about the open water swim, so I was a wreck as I was waiting for him to come out of the water! His mom and I were about ready to throw up for him and we were never so happy to see someone get out of the water!}

{nice view :)}
{bike to run transition}
{cutest cheerleaders around!}
{this little boy sure has a rough life...all he has to do is ask and there is always someone willing to do his bidding. This time it was Uncle Rhett wading through the water with him}
