Breakfast of Champions

This is what I had for breakfast this morning! Oh, it was SO delicious.
I definitely pulled out the "pregnancy card" for this one.
And I didn't even feel guilty about it...
ok, maybe a little bit, but it was well worth it!
Thank you Dunford Bakery for making something so delectable,
and thank you husband for getting it for me.

There really is no redeeming myself from my last post

So I'm not even going to try. What's done is done. I usually observe quite the avoidance of public restrooms, but at the time, that was the last thing on my mind! I just needed to know and needed to know now....not 5 hours later when I got home :)

Anyway...I went to the Dr last week and heard our little one's heartbeat! The baby kept on kicking the machine...it did not like being pushed around :) Everything else looked really good, I'm measuring right on schedule, have gained 2 lbs, and got my ultrasound scheduled for April 17th!! I can't wait to find out what it is! Especially so that I can stop calling "it" an "it!"

Everyone told me to make sure I took belly pictures, so here's my first one. "Showing" is such a vague term. I guess I don't necessarily look like I'm pregnant, just like I'm getting fat :) There is a definite difference in my stomach though!

Only at Walmart

Disclaimer: I am fully aware that this experience is slightly embarrassing and may even borderline white trash, but its too good not to document.

Let's rewind a couple months, 10 weeks to be exact. It's Friday, I'm on my lunchbreak on my way to one of my offices. I decide to make a stop at Walmart to purchase a pregnancy test, because I just had to know. I already knew I was pregnant but I was in denial. You would think that the constant nausea, ability to smell anything and everything (mostly the bad smells), increased emotional state (I found myself crying as I'm listening to some lame, cheesy, country song while driving in my car...definitely not normal), along with a couple other "signs" including the fact that I have never been "late" a day in my life, yes, you would think that all of these lovely things would make it undeniable...but no, I still found a way to believe that it couldn't be true until I saw those two little pink lines.

So, I choose a test, look around for something else to buy (because I can't just buy a pregnancy test)...hmm, some toothpaste will definitely cover up the pregnancy test. I go up to the express lane where I am greated by a nice girl in her late teens. She scans my toothpaste, then picks up the pregnancy test, looks at me with a concerned look and says

"Uh-oh."

What? Excuse me. Uh-oh??? First off, why would you think it was ok to make a comment like that? Second, what makes her think that this would be a bad thing? I respond by saying

"No, not Uh-oh." To which she looks away sheepishly, and says

"Oh....well then, ...good luck!"

Uh..."Thanks?"

It gets better. I then proceed to take my test in the Walmart bathroom. I couldn't wait until I got home that night...I am not that patient. Of course the pink lines showed up within .3 seconds, and I stood there shaking and smiling.

There you have it folks, I found out I was pregnant inside a Walmart bathroom. Definitely memorable. But then what did I expect, it's Walmart.

There's no turning back now...

So, its true...we're having a baby! Its still pretty crazy to me, but we're definitely excited!! As you can see from our lovely counter on the side (I'm sorry, I couldn't bring myself to put a bouncing baby one on..at least not while it still looks like a sea monkey and I'd rather not see the large amount of days I have left so big), I'm 13 weeks along, and due September 10th. September is a great time to have a birthday, but I'm not too thrilled about being massive and miserable during the hottest time of the year! Oh well..what do you do?! I've gotten quite a few questions so I'll try and answer the basics....

-Yes, this was planned...but we were surprised with how quickly it happened :)

-Yes, I have been sick. Luckily, I think its starting to fade out. I no longer feel like I could throw up at any moment and I'm getting my energy back! It feels so good!

-Do we want a boy or girl?? Honestly, I would be completely happy with either...I just want a healthy baby! (If I had to guess though...I think its a girl. But mother's intuition is always wrong on these things!) We won't find out for real what it is for another 7 weeks I think...unless I can talk Travis into going to fetal photos or something :)

-I feel like I am definitely showing...I swear this morning, it just popped out! For the past couple weeks, I have noticed a definite difference in the thickness of my stomach (mainly just at night) ..Travis thought I was crazy, but today he didn't even deny seeing a little bump. Let the fun begin...

It's still pretty surreal to me that I'm really having a baby! My Dr. did an ultrasound at my 10 week appt, and seeing the little blueberry helped the reality set in a little bit. September seems so far away, but when I think about the reality of having a baby, I'm ok with waiting til then :) So, here we go...count us among the many already introduced to the wonderful world of parenthood!
