{beck-4 months}

Can you believe how much this little guy has grown?? He started out as a tiny 6 lb string bean and now is mr. gigantor. It kind of makes me sad to look back and see how tiny he was. However, he is SO much more fun now. I love that he's more interactivve and that he's not so fragile. We sure love this boy.

this open mouth, gummy grin is my absolute favorite.

my bald head, blue eyed little darling

Beck recently discovered how yummy his hands are.
Now they are constantly in his mouth
and his shirts are covered in drool.

And I can't get enough of that smile.

love this face

Is there anything more yummy
than a baby fresh out of the tub,
wrapped in a hooded towel??
I might just squish his little face off.

boys and their dogs

Even though some days this puppy drives me crazy with his neediness (especially as of late), I can't help but love him. Ever since we brought Beck home, Coop always has to be wherever Beck is. When Beck lays on his blanket for tummy time, so does Coop. And I can't wait for Beck to grow up with him as his best friend too.

meet baby ellie

This precious little girl was born yesterday to my best friend Kim. She is such a beautiful baby...looks just like her daddy and has the most dark, curly hair I've ever seen on a newborn. I found myself emotional all day as I sat waiting for the news that Ellie was here. It took me back to when Beck was born, and I was able to remember the amazing spirit that surrounds the birth of a child.

Doesn't look like she just gave birth did she?? Well there's more...this superwoman went through 36 (yes I said 36!) hours of labor ALL NATURALE! Seriously, she rocked the whole thing. Her strength amazes me.

The beaming parents.
Kim and Clay, we couldn't be happier for you and can't wait for Beck and Ellie to fall in love.

And, I couldn't possibly do a post with out a picture of my little monkey now could I?!

Month 3

What I've learned the last 3 months:

  • I love watching you with your dad. You and I are both lucky to have him. I feel so grateful that you are going to have him as such a wonderful example in your life.

  • Sleep is overrated. Ya. right. I never knew I could survive on such little sleep. But you somehow just do it. Because I'm your mom. I like it much better now that you are sleeping 11-12 hours at night. Too bad you still wake up once at 4:30 to eat...I'm pretty sure its more out of habit than anything since its always around the same time. Now if we can just break that habit....

  • Nursing is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Honestly, I was very apprehensive about it and was only giving it a try because I knew it was best for you. I never thought I would say it, but I actually enjoy it now. Sure there are hard things about it, but I love being able to provide that for you. It sure is a bonding time for us.

  • I have inevitably become that paranoid mom I never thought I would be. I can't help it...I just love you too much that the thought of anything happening to you makes me sick inside. People tell me that I won't be like this with my next kid, but for now, I'm ok with it.

  • It is definitely possible to give over 1,000 kisses per day.

  • We are discovering that you have a little stubborn streak in you. Sorry, I'm afraid you get that from both mom and dad. You have realized that you like much better to sleep in someone's arms than alone in your crib....therefore you recently have been fighting going to sleep when we try to lay you down. Don't think we're being mean when we let you cry :)

  • I'm learning that I better control my teeth-gritting or else I'm not going to have any teeth left. You are just so squishable and I can't take how cute you are!

  • I love watching you take in the world each day. You are so alert and happy when you are awake and I love seeing you learn new things.

  • Being a working mom is hard. But thanks to my great boss, I only have to leave you on Tuesdays and Fridays. Although you always get excited to see me when I get home, you love spending time with dad and grammy on those days.

  • My sense of accomplishment is all relative. It's definitely taken some getting used to. Some days it's ok if I don't get in the shower until noon. At the end of the day, if you're happy and I'm happy, that's all that matters.

  • Just like our lives, our house has been taken over by you. Bouncers and bumbos are now a permanent part of the decor and binkis and diapers adorn our bookshelves. I kind of like it though...its a tangible reminder of how grateful I am to have you here. However, that doesn't stop me from having to put it all away before I go to bed everynight.

  • Most importantly, I've learned how much I love being your mom. You are such a sweetheart. It almost makes me nervous for future siblings becuase I'm not sure we can get so lucky again! Thank you for being such a good baby and for giving us a new dimension to our lives. We sure love you.

I am having way too much fun

I obviously don't know the first thing about taking pictures, but this camera makes it so easy! Now I just need to finish reading the manual so that I can utilize its full potential! Wish me luck!

Christmas came early this year

Thanks to selling my old car and to my awesome husband who knew how much I wanted this...we are now the proud owners of the Canon Rebel T1i! I have wanted a SLR for awhile now and my friend told me about a fabulous package deal that Costco had going on, so pretty much my hands were tied :) I literally took the money from the guy we sold my car to, and went straight to Costco (ok..maybe it was the next day). That's how excited I was. I am completely overqhelmed with this thing though, so feel free to send any tips my way! I have always loved taking pictures, but I am quite ignorant when it comes to all the photography terms. I can't wait to learn about all the cool stuff this baby can do!

I knew I couldn't be so lucky

I thought I was in the clear. After only a few days of work, my sweet baby was sleeping 10-11 hours at night only waking up once to eat, and taking at least 3 awesome naps (1 1/2-2 hrs each). It was great. He would eat, play for a bit, then would start to fuss, so I would wrap him up, give him he binky, watch his eyelids start to fall, then I would lay him down for a peaceful slumber. He was one happy baby and I was one happy mama.

Ah. Those were the days.

This week things have taken a turn for the worst.

Nights are still pretty good...he wakes up a little earlier to eat but he's still only waking up once. Days however are a disaster! This child now eats, plays for a bit, starts to get tired, then freaks out! He fights going to sleep with everything he has and when he finally does throw in the towel, he only sleeps for 45 minutes!

Not sure what suddenly changed, but I'm hoping I can find that magical switch soon and turn things back around!

Blessing day

Our sweet baby boy was blessed today. What a special day. Beck received a beautiful blessing from his daddy, and I was overcome with gratitude. Gratitude for a wonderful husband who holds the priesthood and is able to give such a special gift to our son. Gratitude to be given such a perfect child of God as my son. And gratitude for our many friends and family who were there to support us.

I know I can't get away with saying this very much longer, but he really is such a pretty boy.

Our first picture of our little family.

Kim and I....the time is quickly approaching for little miss Ellie to make her entrance into this world! Can't wait to meet her!

Beck smiled for the first time a couple weeks ago.
My dad was able to catch one on camera today! So stinkin' cute!
Seriously, I would probably give this boy anything when he flashes one of these :)
