Humility Check for me...

So last night I got a little humility kick in the butt. (Sorry to those in my ward who are reading this, you may think less of me) I am the enrichment leader in my ward...of course one who has only been to enrichment maybe twice in her life would get this calling...and last night was enrichment. Let's just say that I was NOT excited about it. I was grumbling and complaining about it all week thinking it was going to be lame. It was an activity that I didn't plan, but was in charge of doing pretty much everything for it. I was a little bitter and definitely had a negative attitude about it. So pretty much it turned out awesome! We had a really good turnout, and the whole night was thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting! We had a "dessert discussion" where for the first half an hour we just ate dessert and mingled and then all sat down to have the "discussion." We had 5 women on a panel, all ranges of ages and backgrounds, to answer random questions from the women in our ward about anything...home, marriage, organization, raising children, etc. Not only did I love talking to the cute women in my ward, but I learned so much from the amazing women on the panel. It was the perfect combination of good food, good friends, temporal and spiritual learning. So thank you Heavenly Father for keeping me in check and helping me realize what's important. Hopefully I can learn from this and have a better attitude in the future! Also another thing I learned last night....the importance of enrichment. Remember this is coming from someone who NEVER went to enrichment before I had to. But seriously, being there last night, seeing all of these women taking time out of their lives, talking and laughing with each other, and most importantly learning from each other...it was inspiring. Go figure...our church leaders established these organizations for a purpose! They know what they are doing, and we should do our best to be humble and listen! Overall....a good lesson for me and I am more humble because of this experience.

I have never been to enrichment either, well maybe like once or twice but maybe you have inspired me to go now.

that's funny: I'm on the enrichment committee and I have similar feelings. Thanks for the inspiration!

That sounds like such a fun activity! Um, I never go to enrichment either, but you inspired me. I'll have to give it a try when I'm in North Carolina!

Karlee I was just doing a little blog surfing and found you via Tonii. I was looking at your friend list and saw that you know Tori and Spencer. Spencer is my cousin. I know we talked about both knowing Jen (Cone) Child too. Small world. :-)

so true! i definitely need to start going, i have a hard time as well. And about dog lake (we just went again yesterday) its so beautiful- your puppy would totally love it! the entrance to Millcreek Canyon is all the way up 3800 S - past wasatch- and the trail is at the very tip top. you just keep driving straight and you'll eventually hit the Dog Lake and Big Water parking lot. Its such a beautiful drive! I just have to little tips for you: first it cost $2.25 a car but its totally worth it because the keep that canyon SO clean and second if you decide to go, go on an ODD numbered day of the month. If that makes sense, EVEN days of the month there are mountain bikers on the trial and it just means a lot more pulling over for us hikers to let them through. But odd days they are supposed to stay off that trial :o)

Well let's just say I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've gone to enrichment and I'm 4 years older than you, so hey you're doin' great. I don't think I'll be going anytime soon either. If I didn't go when I lived in Utah and it was only 5 minutes away, I don't see myself going when I have to drive 50 minutes to get there. So you keep going and it will count for the both of us. Have fun though. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun ideas and activities.

I like that enrichment activity idea! I hardly ever go to enrichment either, I always mean to go but never get there! But you are right, once you get there it's always great.

Hey,
I am Crystal Moeller. I live in your ward. I am so glad you posted this. I was feeling so guilty cause I have never been to one enrichment activity in this ward. I was going to swallow my pride and go to this one. I ended having to go to my Moms on Thurs and was unable to come. I was actually bummed cause I was going to go. I dont know anyone in this ward and I know that would be a good opportunity to get to know everyone but I always make an excuse. I’ll try to be more like you and GO next time!!Thanks for this it was just what I needed!!

Hey Karlee
My name is Jessica Adams. I live in your ward. I've seen you a couple times, but never had the chance to talk to you!
Maybe if I came to enrichment, huh?? ;)
It's always hard when life is busy and you feel like you hardly get to see your family, but I will try to make a better effort! Hey, I want to get to know people in the ward, so it can't hurt!
